FORUMS RETURN AFTER HACKER STRIKES!

The Fall
of Rome forums were hit recently by a hacker who apparently had
nothing better to do than to be a nusiance.
The forum software has
been upgraded, and fortunately, the forum user database remained
intact.
Unfortunately, the old
forum threads fell victim to the hacker's attack, but the new
forums sport a brighter, more vivid look.
Be sure to drop in and
check out the new forums for yourself! We'll be waiting for you
there.

The Centurion Free Demo
debuted in May. Originally created as a quick introduction to Fall
of Rome, Centurion has already proved popular with our existing
players. Games have a maximum
time of just nine minutes per turn, and games are nine turns long.
There is no fog of war you see your opponents' legions from
the beginning.
Visitors to our site can play our demo
version of Centurion with just a valid email address: No

ON MY COMMAND!
|
Maximus Dominus has entered the fray, and
has now taken command of both the Official Newsletter and the Forums
for Fall of Rome.

As part of its ongoing commitment to improving its customer service
network, Enlightened Age Entertainment, Inc. has enlisted the services
of Maximus Dominus, to improve the newsletter format, and to provide
a more personal touch to the forums for Fall of Rome and Centurion.
An avid Play-By-Mail enthusiast and active Fall of Rome player,
Maximus Dominus insists that he will be making his presence felt.
"Today's gamers deserve more," Maximus
was quoted as saying recently. "It is my intention to
see that they receive it!"
"Multiplayer games come a dime a dozen,"
he added. "Many massively multiplayer online games these
days fall short on the strategy end, and Fall of Rome is a shot
across their bows that better online games are, indeed, possible."
With Play-By-Mail roots stretching back two decades, Maximus Dominus
hails from the old school of turn-based games.
"Online games and multiplayer games should be about
more than just an endless exercise in killing rats,"
he continued.
"Graphics are no substitute for strategy, and neither
are cute sound effects," Maximus Dominus asserted.
"If the focus on strategy isn't there, then the online
game experience of the player invariably suffers."
"Likewise, there must also be emphasis on the individual
players and on the player community."
Player interviews, player taunts, player challenges, and player-authored
tips and strategy pieces will be featured in future issues of the
Official Newsletter for Fall of Rome.
"Why do it?" Maximus was recently asked.
"By God," he responded.
"Because we can. That's why! Because the
gaming public deserves better."

THANATOS THE TERRIBLE ON THE RAMPAGE!
BEWARE HIS WRATH!!
|
Like a wolf on the prowl, Lord Thanatos, aka
Thanatos the Terrible, has quickly developed a reputation as one
of the top players of Fall of Rome.
Currently sitting atop the Imperator list, Thanatos
the Terrible is no light-weight contender. He's been known to devour
kingdoms whole, sending the competition scrambling.
Also, he simultaneously is in 3rd place in the
Valhalla standings, with 108051 status points. Only players Tarin
of Ica and Miksu currently have more status points than Lord Thanatos,
with 146181 and 112278 points, respectively.
Whether you're new to Fall of Rome, or whether
you're a veteran, already, if you see Lord Thanatos' name in the
next game that you enter, then you had best be on your toes!
If you're looking for mercy, though, then gambling
on Thanatos the Terrible sparing your kingdom might be a fool's
folly.
If you've encountered Lord Thanatos in one of
your games of Fall of Rome, then be sure to send in your own appraisal
of his playing ability to the Fall of Rome newsletter.
He may not be a Bigfoot, but one thing is for
certain - Thanatos the Terrible leaves an awfully big footprint
when he strides across the battlefield in Fall of Rome, that online
wargame that packs a hefty strategic punch!

One cannot rest a legion on the same turn it conquers a popcenter.
